Who is your culinary inspiration?First and foremost my mother was an influence on my upbringing. I was always watching her make holiday meals and helped out preparing them. Our relatives would look forward to coming over to enjoy her food. When the Food Network was launched I was drawn in to the numerous cooking shows. My early favorites were Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagasse, and Mario Batali. They inspired me with their use of spices and seasonings. To me flavors and their blending are key. I think they set the standard for flavor.
What would you do with the $25,000?I was afflicted with cirrhosis and ascite in 2023 , and diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2024. I was placed on the organ transplant list and I was sidelined most of that time. My family was there for me during that time nursing me back to health. I since have been taken off the list and my diabetes is under control. The prize money would go back to them especially my grandson who is my inspiration.
