Who is your culinary inspiration?Marcus Samuelsson bringing his Ethiopian foods to mainstream and being proud of it. The passion is felt when I watch him competing. I grew up eating Jamaican foods & in the 80’s Canada was not that versed in other cultures. Being ashamed of my culture’s food at school while loving Christmas and family events because the food was so good. Most people at my school and some jobs did not have the knowledge of foods from around the world.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would open a Brunch Restaurant & Lounge. Caribbean inspired of course. Life music, DJ’s & private area for events. I would have specials like Sunday dinner to bring family and friends together like olden days. Sunday dinner growing up meant everyone at the table, no distractions (no TV’s or phones) family spending quality time sharing a meal and talking about world events or family stuff. A restaurant inspired by love and togetherness.
