It is memory, love, and community in a single pot. Every time I make it I am reconnecting to the moment I fell in love with cooking and the people who gather around a table to share it.
Who is your culinary inspiration?My culinary inspirations are my grandfather and Carla Hall. My grandfather gave me my foundation and showed me food is love. Carla's charisma, joy, and the way she teaches with her whole soul drew me in and reminded me that cooking is about more than technique. It is about the happiness you pour into every dish and the lives you touch when you share it.
What would you do with the $25,000?With the $25,000 I would launch a culinary empowerment and community center where food is medicine. Not just holistically but rooted in how understanding food and it's function in your body transforms how you see yourself and the world around you. When people understand what nourishes them they begin to Nourish their communities. This prize would be the seed that grows that vision into reality.
