It’s so hard to define just one dish, but if I must, my signature dish would have to be a slow cooked, herb-butter smothered turkey wing, served over homemade garlic mashed potatoes and gravy, baked mac and cheese, and a side of savory cabbage. The turkey falls off the bone. Paired with that homemade gravy and creamy mashed potatoes, and homemade mac, it is comfort food at its finest!

My culinary inspiration has always been my mother. I recall being in the kitchen with her very young making homemade meals from scratch. And playing good music on the radio! Should could always make so much with so little. We always ate so extravagantly, we never even knew the extent of our economic struggles. She was the seasoning queen and opened her doors for anyone who was hungry. I aspire to be just like her in her skill, and her kindness to others. My mother passed down many traditions.

With the $25,000, I would become official as the chef I know I am called to be! I’d stop selling plates from home, and get brick and mortar. I’d quit my part-time fast food job, and officially set up Soulaan Kitchen full time. I’d build a restaurant up with my family, expand with a food truck, and serve beautiful healthy home cooked meals to the Akron OH area. I’d also focus on my humanitarian efforts here in town, and in my home town, with feeding underprivileged individ
