Who is your culinary inspiration?My mother is my inspiration. She cooked without recipes. She had never attended school, and she was an incredible cook. I learned how to cook with her. I learned how to cook by watching TV. I didn’t speak English, but I watched what the TV chefs were doing, and after the show I would try to recreate it. I did not study gastronomy. I am a home cook, but now I am a food instructor for kids. I teach the kids how to cook, just as I learned. Cook with our heart and our eyes.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would like to create a kitchen studio where I will teach kids and adults how to cook fresh and healthy food. I also want to inspire people to enjoy the process of cooking together, connecting with the ingredients, sharing meals, and having fun.
