Receive Text UpdatesI’m great at creating delicious meals out of roast bones and noodles. I know my family’s tastebuds. Others have enjoyed my fish fry rice with shrimp and of course my classic pound cake.
Who is your culinary inspiration?My Grandmother and Aunt Vorlea would be my first inspirations. Momma taught me how to cook by tasting, smelling and looking at the foods. Auntie taught me how to make homemade desserts. I was inspired by our customers to add to our menu and cultivate our family business.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would put it towards the development of our non-profit for our community. Assured Restoration Infinitely through Service and Education (A.R.I.S.E.). This program includes a community commercial kitchen for intergenerational seniors and youth. It will also provide mentors for youth female and male who are feeling unloved. Hopefully, we will work alongside the Philadelphia School District. Although I have retired from the school district my heart goes out to the children that need attention.
