Winner will appear in Taste of Home magazine, cook with Carla Hall, and take home $25,000
I love to cook and try to feed homeless people once a month or so. I have fed about 350 people this year. My food is tasty and nutritious.

Receive Text UpdatesMy signature dishes, more than one are: Carne Adovada, Sounds weird, but Spinach and Nalga Pies, basically Mexican Dumplings. Nalgas in Spanish is the buttocks. When cooked, they look like little butt cheeks, hence the name.
Who is your culinary inspiration? When I was five, my Grandma Gauna taught me to make Spanish rice. How to hold the knife, cut onions and brown the rice, add water, boil, add more water, boil, add can of tomato sauce, cover with low heat. Her kindness was a big part of learning and how to love cooking. Many times were spent laughing and learning the patience it took to cook good food, well.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would get a food truck, feeding paying customers as well as those in need. I would use part of it to testablish a foundation to help homeless people learn to cook, helping themselves have the confidence to overcome the issues that drove them there. I am grateful for the life i have. Cooking helps me connect with others. Gratitude from the unfocused as I feed them, nurtures my soul. And, I like to eat, so I make it tasty for me, then most everyone else.
