Connect What is your signature dish?

Wine braised duck legs with stuffing, veggies and yams, or Indian/East African bbq. I’m Ismaili so a lot of my recipes and my mother’s recipes are community recipes and a kind of traditionalized fusion. I also make the best spicy steak and onion sandwich if I do say so myself. I don’t really have a signature dish, I just get an idea or see a picture and tackle making it real till it tastes the way I imagined, then my ADHD moves me on to the next conquest. Who is your culinary inspiration?

My mother is the best cook I know in real life, she exposed us to everything tasty while also teaching use gratitude for each meal in front of us. When I was a kid I really loved watching Martha Stewart and when I started my cooking journey I was really inspired by Marion Grasby’s recipes. She’s such a cute and lovely lady to watch, I would recommend her channel!

What would you do with the $25,000?

Honestly, in this economy? Pay off some Debt and finally travel for myself and my foodie soul. First to this women’s retreat in Bali for their culinary experience, then to anywhere else near or on that continent to learn about the foods and flavors! That’s the dream. I can’t buy a certificate or a food truck with 25000, but I can gain at least a thousand new experiences and try a thousand new taste combinations that’ll inspire me on my cooking journey for years to come.
