Who is your culinary inspiration?I have a lot of culinary inspirations, but I would have to say Alice Waters. Her farm to table and slow food approach is how I cook best. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and lupus about 14 years ago, and had to reinvent my culinary POV to include dietary restrictions. I started teaching and homeschooling to help kids learn about the love of cooking. Alice’s edible schoolyard initiatives are in alignment with what I feel is most important...teaching kids to love food well!
What would you do with the $25,000?I would create a space to start a home economics style school for school aged (elementary through high school) kids to learn culinary arts and gardening for culinary use. I would have a large kitchen area with stoves and oven and counter spaces as well as garden areas where kids would learn to use fresh items. I would also like to use some of that to enroll in classes to get certified as a functional nutritionist to continue my own education in how food effects the body and wellness overall.
