When she’s sick or hurting and needs a “mom hug through food,” this is what I make. It’s warm, soft, and full of the kind of love only a kitchen can hold. Potatoes, garlic, and parmesan — simple ingredients that somehow feel like home.
Who is your culinary inspiration?My mom and grandma were my biggest culinary inspirations. Cooking beside them taught me the foundations I still use today. I’ve spent much of my adult life recreating their dishes and the love they poured into feeding others. Many people never had that kind of experience, so it matters to me to create that same sense of family and warmth for everyone I cook for.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the $25,000 prize to remodel my kitchen so I can finally teach cooking lessons in my home. My space isn’t set up for that currently, and creating a welcoming place to share my love of cooking has been a longtime dream. This would let me open my kitchen — and my heart — to anyone who wants to learn.
