Receive Text UpdatesMy cab driver chicken - inspired by a cab driver telling me about an orange flavored chicken he made and was so proud of. His enthusiasm for cooking inspired me to develop this recipe that I now can’t stop making. Perfectly baked crispy chicken with a sauce of honey, jalapeños, basil, mandarin, garlic and soy - it’s addictive. Everyone I’ve made it for has asked for it again and again. The best part is how easy it is for how outrageously delicious and gourmet it tastes.
Who is your culinary inspiration?My grandmother - a self taught home chef who cooked for a large family and brought a sense of mastery where the whole family had admiration watching and helping her cook. She turned a multiple course large family dinner into an experience that made you feel like you were on Italian vacation, opposed to something that could otherwise be stressful. She showed me cooking was a way to experience and enjoy life and the most loving gift you could give to others is a rustic comforting homemade meal.
What would you do with the $25,000?I just quit my corporate job of a decade to follow my dream and dive into the food world! I’m currently enjoying recipe development online and my dream is to both publish a cookbook and to open a sandwich shop called Shirley’s Sandwiches, after my grandmother. The $25,000 would go towards this and the dream of making flavor packed (and saucy) sandwiches for a community of people to enjoy.
