Who is your culinary inspiration?My culinary inspirations are both my mom and grandmother. They instilled in me the importance of learning how to cook but what I’ll always appreciate is that they never centered it around our identities as women. From learning how to cut the stove on, to then being taught to chop my first onion, they held my hand and gave me access to a plethora of homemade favorites.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to first put me and my mother in a new home. I am a part-time caretaker to her and gathering the funds to move have proven to be challenging to us. I would also love to donate some of the money, not only to local mutual aid groups in the Washington, DC area, but to my mentor and friend, Holly Baynham’s nonprofit, Girls Groove.
