Receive Text UpdatesMy signature dish, although not made often, is my vegan lasagna. This dish, layered with peppers, mushrooms, summer squash, and homemade almond ricotta is a delicious medley of veggies that will convert any meat eater to an enthusiastic omnivore. I put a lot of work into creating this recipe while was vegan and it's one of my favorite dishes I've created.
Who is your culinary inspiration?I draw inspiration from family memories centered around food. My grandma's chicken stew...family holidays where gumbo is the star of the day... winning my husband over with my vegan lasagna. To me food means bonding, community, and love. I like for my cooking to give that same energy. Homey, traditional, comforting but invigorating and spontaneous.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use a good portion of the award money for my bakery, Kendal & Kelby's Cheesecakes, which I own with my twin sister. We would love to grow our business, but you need capital to do that! Then I would use about $5,000 for an anniversary trip with my husband. We don't get enough time away together, and I would love to be able to spend some fun quality time away with him, outside the bakery.
