Receive Text UpdatesCarne Adovado. It’s a labor of love. Making the red chile puree is a two day task alone, then cutting beautiful cubes of pork butt and marinating them in the puree overnight. I eagerly anticipate the hour to start braising the meat, when the house starts smelling so delicious that anyone who enters lights up and begins to salivate. I serve it with homemade flour tortillas and green rice. Leftovers and love for days!
Who is your culinary inspiration?I’ve watched a lot of cooking shows in my life. The one that hooked me and made me want to try cooking more was Emeril. One of my son’s first words was “Bam!”
What would you do with the $25,000?I would put on a benefit event to support programs providing assistance for people who suffer from a variety of mental illnesses, to raise money and awareness about what I think are all curable conditions if we, as a worldwide community, worked together on with the same vigor as research in cancer and other high profile diseases get. Of course my kids would get some to put towards an educational experience. And I would take us on a trip to do something fun and worthwhile for our souls.
