Who is your culinary inspiration?My greatest culinary inspiration is my mother, my grandmother, and the women who cook from the heart, because their food does more than nourish — it comforts the soul and brings back memories of family, love, and home. I deeply admire the seafood cooks of Sinaloa, who carry the flavour in their blood and the ocean in their hands. I also admire chefs like Enrique Olvera for bringing Mexican cuisine to the world without losing their roots or their humanity.
What would you do with the $25,000?Winning this prize would mean so much to my family and me. My wife and I came to Canada chasing a dream, but soon after arriving, we became victims of a scam by fellow compatriots and lost much of our savings, forcing us to start over. Even so, we never gave up. Through hard work and sacrifice, we opened a small restaurant in Guelph, Ontario, where we proudly share the authentic flavours of Sinaloa. This prize would help us rebuild what we lost.
