Connect What is your signature dish?

My signature dish is a Gulf Coast Surf & Turf inspired by the flavors I grew up loving in Texas. I pair a perfectly seared ribeye with blackened Gulf shrimp and a creamy crawfish étouffée-style sauce, served alongside smoked gouda grits and charred seasonal vegetables. It brings together Southern comfort, coastal seafood, and steakhouse technique in one plate. The dish represents who I am as a chef bold flavors, Texas roots, and food that brings people together.

Who is your culinary inspiration?

My greatest culinary inspiration is my students. Watching young people discover confidence, creativity, and passion through food is what drives me every day. As a culinary teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing students fall in love with the culinary arts industry and realize they are capable of amazing things. Their growth, excitement, and determination push me to become a better chef, mentor, and leader every single day.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000, I would invest it directly back into the culinary program at Long Creek High School in New Braunfels, Texas. My dream is to help create a student-run food truck that gives students real-world culinary and hospitality experience while serving our community. The funds would also help provide kitchen equipment, competition travel opportunities, industry certifications, and hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for careers in the culinary arts.
