Receive Text UpdatesI’ve never believed a chef should be defined by a single signature dish. Great chefs are students of the world, constantly learning, adapting, and creating. When people ask what my signature dish is, I tell them to spin a globe and put their finger on it—I’ll make you something. From the Chesapeake Bay flavors that shaped my childhood to cuisines that inspire me today, my signature is not one recipe, but the ability to tell a story through food.
Who is your culinary inspiration?My greatest inspiration as a chef comes from my grandmother, who taught me that food is an act of love long before I ever stepped into a professional kitchen. Her patience, intuition, and ability to turn simple ingredients into unforgettable meals shaped my foundation. I’ve also been influenced by the chefs and kitchens I’ve worked in throughout my career, but it always circles back to her roots.
What would you do with the $25,000?I’d reinvest the prize into my culinary future — building experiences that bring culture, food, art, and music together, while growing something lasting for my community and my craft.
