Receive Text UpdatesMy signature dish is slow, simmer soul food. Greens served with tender ghetto, oxtails, turkey necks cooked down until they fall apart with flavor and last but not least some good old cornbread.
Who is your culinary inspiration? My biggest culinary inspiration comes from the soul food cooks who came before me, the aunties, the grandma‘s and the neighborhood chefs who could turn simple ingredients into pure comfort. I am inspired by the way they cook with instinct, patience, and love. Watching people in my family, make something out of nothing. That taught me that food is more than flavor its history, culture and connection. I carry that with me every time I cook.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I had $25,000 I would invest it directly into my growth as a chef. I’d use it to upgrade my kitchen tools buying equipment and stock high-quality ingredients so I can perfect my soul food dishes. I’d also take more classes learn new techniques and travel to taste authentic flavors that inspired me. Most importantly, I’d use the opportunity to build something that represents my passion and my culture. This wouldn’t just be Money. It would be an investment.
