Receive Text UpdatesOne of our family’s favorite week night dishes is a simple shrimp and grits dish. Mine uses fresh shrimp broiled in pan with white beans, charred tomatoes, capers and chicken broth. This saucy mixture is served over cheddar grits with a slice of garlic rubbed crusty bread.
Who is your culinary inspiration?For the last 10 years or so, I’ve closely follower chef Vivian Howard. After starting her career in NYC, she moved back to Eastern North Carolina to open a restaurant featuring elevated Southern cuisine. Bring in the pork, collards, sweet potatoes and watermelon.
What would you do with the $25,000?Firstly, I’m very conscious of my privilege as a white male. I’d use a portion of this money to aid local food banks and food kitchens. Secondly, I’m the father of two teenaged young women. I’d set aside a portion of these winnings toward their future education.
