Who is your culinary inspiration? My mom is my inspiration. She was a cambodian refugee that fled cambodia with my family and consequntially travelled to many different countries on the voyage to america. In order to provide for my family during this journey she made noodles to sell but also experienced all the food they had to offer, and that ended up being the food of my childhood, phillipines, chinese, malaysian, thai, vietnamese and more.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would fund an international BBQ restaurant that had influences of bbq from all over the world. From china to puerto rico to argentina to india and of course american bbq. The sauces and flavors and techniques would be heavily influenced by my own upbringing and that of my friends that i knew growing up as well as all the wonderful chefs that ive met along the way.
