When I think of signature dish, I have to decide is it what I enjoy cooking or what my family and friends enjoy the most. I believe it it the latter. So then I would have to say I am most thought of for my tamales. I have been making my recipe for 12 years now and friends will still say, “When are you making tamales again?”. Groups of us will gather and make them together so I can teach others the coveted recipe and technique.
Who is your culinary inspiration?Without a doubt, I have always admired Ree Drummond. I love the way her family is such a part of her story and her husband and children are incorporated into her show. I literally see a recipe on her show that I think my family would like and I get to cooking. Like her, I also enjoy cooking for neighbors and friends.
What would you do with the $25,000?For years, I have dreamed of owning a food truck. I envision myself going to different parts of town and meeting so many new people to share my cooking with. As a special education teacher with 4 children, there isn’t ever enough money to do the things we dream of so this would allow me to accomplish this dream while sharing my love of cooking with many more people. Please consider me!
