Since I did not start really cooking until I was in my 40s, I'd like to show people that it's never too late to chase your dreams.

Who or what inspires you to cook?

When I was young, I loved an after-school special about a witch who prepared magical blueberry pancakes that brought people joy. The idea that food, and the preparation of food, was an act of love and service was revolutionary to me. Since then, I have associated cooking with happiness, love, comfort, connection, and magic. And who doesn't want to be a magician?

What's your all time favorite dish to make?

As the owner of a B&B and wedding venue, I do a lot of breakfasts and baked goods - which I love. I adore making soups and stews of all kinds. I am also obsessed with paprika and have been putting it in everything. But when cooking just for me and my family, my absolute favorites are green chile chicken enchiladas with black bean and corn salsa, and Cajun lasagna with Gulf shrimp and Tasso ham.

What would you do with the $25,000?

After suppressing the desire to run away to France, I would make some much-needed improvements and repairs to the inn and barns so that we can better serve our guests and the community.
