Who or what inspires you to cook?

As a stay at home dad to 4 kids, I wanted to cook food for my family that was nourishing and different. I used my traveling experience to expand their palettes and my family loved it! This inspired my “who” for cooking and Salt Lake Culinary School helped push me to be better, making it my “what”. Being able to cook for my family and friends lets me share that feeling of togetherness that I find only great food does!

What's your all time favorite dish to make?

Pan seared chicken thighs, finished in oven. Making a pan sauce with shallots, garlic, and red chili flakes, deglazed with bourbon and mounded with butter. Served with bacon wrapped asparagus and herbed mashed potatoes.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would love to start my own private chef business and to continue sharing fun food with people. Giving my potential clients the ability to have a tailored food experience wherever they want it at, however they want it prepared. Having the equipment and supplies to provide that kind of cuisine flexibility would change everything for my family and myself. Watching different chef’s techniques and preparations of foods, I just love the fun of it, and I want to do that for my future clients!
