Ruby Lautermilch

My inspiration for cooking has always come from gathering people together and watching the joy come to people faces when they sit at the table. I have been cooking and feeding my family since I was eight years old and my passion has never dwindled. I am inspired by the many different cultures that you can get a glimpse into while cooking in different cuisines. Food is something that can unite everyone and shows how we are all alike. I am largely inspired by Michelle Rabin as well

My favourite dish to cook is a large falafel feast full of different sauces and sides. Tabouli,tum, and babaghanoush surrounding a huge plate of rice, potatoes, and freshly fried falafels never fails to bring people together. The falafel recipe can always be adapted and fine tuned every time I make it.

The money from this contest would allow me to finish university and maintain the supper club I put on every week for different groups of people. The money would also help me pursue my passion for making fly fishing more accessible and welcome for women and bring people who wouldn’t typically get into the sport out on the river
