Who or what inspires you to cook?

Cooking became my passion in 2001 as a single mother working two jobs to make ends meet. Unable to afford dining out, I found inspiration from cooking shows and my job in a restaurant, tasting everything from the kitchen. My grandmother, who made meals from her garden, showed me the beauty of creating with what you have. Cooking is my therapy a way to create joy, connect with others, and express love. With each dish, I share a piece of myself and honor those who inspired me.

What's your all time favorite dish to make?

One of my all-time favorite dishes to make is Hasselback chicken stuffed with mushrooms, spinach, and cream cheese. The chicken is carefully sliced and filled with a savory blend of sautéed mushrooms, fresh spinach, and seasoned cream cheese each bite bursting with rich, earthy flavors. What would you do with the $25,000?

If I win $25,000, I would use it to open a farm-to-table restaurant in an urban food desert, revitalizing the neighborhood where my grandmother once lived. The restaurant would serve fresh, locally sourced meals with an herb garden in the back, promoting healthier, clean eating. It would provide access to nutritious food, jobs, and community programs like cooking classes and garden workshops.
