Receive Text UpdatesI have always been into cooking since I was a kid. When I was a 22 I became a nanny to a caterer and learn so much more. I also gotten to learn under the great chef Eric Lees. Chef Lees taught me as I worked under him at Basan Detroit. My other mentor who I received great advice from James Beard nominee, chef Shawn McClain. These are the men who inspired me to work towards my dream by believing in me.
What's your all time favorite dish to make?My all time favorite dish to make is ceviche and steak frites. I love making ceviche cause of the fresh taste and the many things you can do with that dish. I previously did a fine dining pop up. My first course was coconut milk and lime ceviche. Also I have worked in the front of the house at Highlands Detroit (owned by Chef McClain) where I learned how to make the perfect steak. I just believe steak frites is the ultimate comfort dish.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the 25,000 to continue to grow my business. My church and I have joined together to make a cafe. “Say Grace Cafe” started when my assistant pastor asked me to come up with something for my church. Where they can have great food before and after church. I took that and came up with “Say Grace”. I am the executive chef and have challenged myself to feed my church delicious and healthy food. I often try to get them to try new things.
