My inspiration to cook initially came from my Mom, Grandmother and, when I married as a young Sicilian girl, from my Mother in Law. Married to a Black man, I learned the challenges in life can be eased at the family table where there was fun, safety and good food. My passion for food, my understanding of two cultures and bringing them together through food is the greatest gift given to my. My philosophy is simple, make food luscious, healthy and most of all make it with love.

My all time favorite dish to make is Eggplant Parmesan. I've selecting this dish because it is the most requested from my Sicilian family and my Black family members. I'm asked to bring the eggplant for all occasions. I do not make this in Sicilian style because when I was a young girl my Mom's neighbor from Calabria made it differently, which I loved, and have been making it in that fashion every since.

If I were fortunate enough to win Favorite Chef, I would like to use the winnings to finalize, print and promote my cookbook. In today's world, family is a beautiful tapestry woven from diverse threads. My cookbook celebrates diversity showcasing recipes that reflect culinary heritages that make families unique and vibrant. I believe that when you put your heart and soul into cooking and embrace beautiful differences that make families special you will be rewarded with a full and happy heart!
