I was a pediatrician my whole career - and feeding people is an extension of nurturing and caring - cooking and creating gives me an opportunity to help people with dietary challenges in a way that is beautiful, tasty and accessible. Since my now two year old grandson was a baby, I have worked diligently to feed him only fresh food, and as a result he is a stellar eater. Every week I care for him he gets new cuisines and tastes from his “Jamma.”
What's your all time favorite dish to make?I love making a big saffron and herb laced persian rice, some grilled veggies, hummus, and grilled chicken or steak. Feeding a crowd with sharing dishes is my idea of bringing people together over food.
What would you do with the $25,000?I volunteer on the board of Momentum (momentum4all.org) on behalf of the disability community. I’d like to endow part of our new teaching kitchen to further career possibilities for individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities who want to work, and live their best lives.
