Who or what inspires you to cook?

My cooking origin story began with doing local BBQ competitions with my dad and uncle. It sent me down a path and understanding that BBQ brings people together and is a universal language. I've come to respect all regions and styles of BBQ and cooking! I have many inspirations, including Tootsie Tomanetz, Aaron Franklin, Malcolm Reed, Kent Rollins, and many more!

What's your all time favorite dish to make?

As any self-respecting Texan, the answer for me is Brisket! I enjoy the Central Texas style for brisket, low and slow on an offset smoker with Post Oak fueling the fire. Brisket continually challenges even the most experienced chefs and pitmasters!

What would you do with the $25,000?

It would help fund continued capital for equipment and hiring for job growth for my company Smokey Woods. We make the premier cooking wood fuels for the culinary and bbq industries.
