Who or what inspires you to cook?

My family inspires me. Raised by 5 women including my single mom, I was taught early on that you cook with your heart and soul and the rest will follow. I love exploring and fusing dishes where possible. My love for Latin, Indian and Carribean cuisine is where my heart is. Spending my summers growing up in Puerto Rico is where my love for food comes from. However I’m still the boy from Spanish Harlem El Barrio.

What's your all time favorite dish to make?

There’s a couple of dishes I love making Asopao de Camarones, empanadillas, Bistec Salteado, Butter Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo the list is never ending. For the most part I love cooking with flavor not spicy.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I just opened up a restaurant and it would go to purchasing a couple of items that I need for the restaurant. Purchasing a headstone for my mother that just passed. Gift for the wife as she’s been my rock through this and a very good bottle of bourbon to celebrate.
