Who or what inspires you to cook?

My late grandma Aurora sparked my curiosity for cooking and my late mom helped me find my love for cooking. I have memories of helping them out during Sunday family dinners, preparing authentic italian dishes that I still prepare today: meatballs, gnocchi, lasagna, beef milanese. I believe food is our very own time machine and can take you back to your childhood, to special memories or events. It can transport you in time, hug you from the inside and move you. It certainly moves me!

What's your all time favorite dish to make?

I enjoy cooking everything and anything! It is hard to narrow it down, but Argentinian Barbecue is of course in my top 5. Also potato gnocchi, lasagna with homemade ragu and bechamel sauce, and braised short rib, served with cooking jus reduction.

What would you do with the $25,000?

My wife and I sold everything we had in our home country of Argentina and came to America to have our own Wine & Tapas bar - this prize money would help tremendously in our small and family owned restaurant!
