I live in New England (CT) and between the orchards, farms, streams, bays, and artisans and craftspeople, there is no limit to inspiration. Also, I like reading about history, culture, and the food that ties so much of it together.
What's your all time favorite dish to make?Oh crap, that’s tough, because it depends upon my mood, the season, the setting, and who is around me. But I love seafood, so seared Block Island scallops with an Ouzo tarragon cream sauce is nice, or broiled Mashpee finished similarly, kind of Rockefeller-esque. Broiled miso honey halibut (or cod) with braised baby bok choy. The list goes on. Homemade papardelle with venison Bolognese?
What would you do with the $25,000?I have a long stone retaining wall running the length of my driveway, that has crumbled into oblivion over the past 20+ years. I’d like to have it rebuilt by a master New England mason, and help put his kid through college. But also, helping pay off my own kids’ student loans would be nice., or a new bike.
