What is your signature dish?

My specialty is sauces, curries, gravies, and stews. I love building layers of flavor, balancing spices, and creating dishes that bring comfort, culture, and connection to the table. Whether it’s a rich curry, a slow-simmered stew, or a deeply flavorful sauce, that’s where I feel most at home as a cook.

Who is your culinary inspiration?

My biggest culinary inspiration is my mother. She taught me that great food isn’t just about technique, it’s about hospitality, generosity, and bringing people together. I also draw inspiration from cooks around the world, blending Nigerian flavors with influences from Asia, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Latin America.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest in growing Dera’s Kitchen, creating more content that introduces people to global flavors through approachable recipes. I’d also use part of the money to support my family and continue building a platform that celebrates culture, community, and connection through food.
