I love my Macedonian heritage, and cooking. I will work diligently to promote Macedonian food to the world.
I have been cooking since I was a little girl. I have fond memories of being mom's little helper in the kitchen as she carefully went through each step making traditional Macedonian pie called zelnik. My mom is an exceptional cook. I am fortunate that I have been exposed to the wonderful cuisine of Macedonia. Cooking is an artistic expression for me, a sensation of the senses. From the creation, to the presentation , the taste and the smell. I love every aspect of it.
Since my first taste of zelnik, that flakey, paper thin hand made phyllo pastry with its mouth watering various fillings, I knew that I must one day master this art and call it my own. Never did I think that I would be able to make a zelnik that tasted as good as my mothers, but I can very proudly now say that I have. Once you have made it the right way, it is like riding a bicycle, the clouds part and the sun comes out. I am hooked.
I will promote our Macedonian cuisine to the world. I want to see Macedonian food become a household staple, for all cultures to enjoy. I will travel to Macedonia and learn more about both traditional and modern Macedonian food, publish a cook book and use some of the money to help food banks in Macedonia to feed the poor.
