Inspiring future chefs of tomorrow is a honor. Winning this contest will allow us to create a food pantry for many who are food insecure.
I have been cooking since I was 8 years old. Being one of 5 boys with working parents, I would often get notes afterschool to start preparing dinner. What became a chore for the rest of my brothers, became a passion for me. I entered my first professional kitchen when I was 14 years old back in 1979, a restaurant that gave me my start as a head cook at 16 years old and a restaurant that is still open today.
Over the years of working at restaurants and owning my own catering companies, I have been best known for the elaborate and over the top cocktail parties and galas I cater with unique offerings and presentations.
Being a Chef instructor and director of a culinary program for a community college, I see a lot of students that are food insecure. I would like to create a food pantry that would serve these students. No student should ever have to decide whether to purchase a book or to purchase food for their family
