How long have you been cooking?

Professionally- 12 years. Passionately- 25+ years. (Since about the time I was 7.) Some of my first memories are asking to cook/bake, and watching my Italian grandmother and my mother cook/bake. I asked for a ‘Easy Bake Oven’ multiple times, and my mother would point to the Kitchen Aid, and the oven! The smell, the sounds, and the feelings it brings; all remind me of love. The act of cooking is creating love in an edible form; and well simply making something that tastes really good

What is your signature dish?

I like taking classic Italian dishes and infusing them with modern, coastal, and global influences. Savory- ‘Crab & Shrimp a la Penne Vodka’. Sautéed crabmeat & jumbo shrimp in a sunrise vodka cream sauce with fresh diced Roma tomatoes & basil tossed with penne pasta. Sweet- ‘Carrot Cake.’ 3 layers of moist carrot cake with whipped cream cheese frosting and a dusting of cinnamon and crushed walnuts.

What will you do with the $50,000?

I will invest the money in a new offshoot we’re dreaming up: ‘Doppio’ a Espresso/Juice/Gelato bar. We want to offer a space that isn’t the restaurant- ‘La Dolce Vita’, isn’t home, and it isn’t work. A place where the community and visitors can come get their daily dose of the sweet life-Morning, Noon, and Night!! Creating a space that people can come gather, pause for a moment, or celebrate life is really the goal! Life is too sweet not to!
