I'm the quintessential food pusher/lover, Great American Grandma, and home cook who perpetuates the power, legacy & magic of cooking.
I've been cooking since I was knee high to a grasshoppper. Spent hours and hours in the kitchens of my Croatian mom and paternal Grandmother. Growing up in Appalachia, cooking was done full-time at home, virtually all meals. No fast food or pizza places. No carry out. No delivery. The art of cooking healthy nutritious meals was inculcated in me from a young age. Our family garden supplied fresh vegetables and canning helped us make it through the winter.
My signature dish? Beans. Yes, simple cheap inexpensive beans that have been the staple of American tables and other cultures cuisines around the world for centuries. Beans can be elevated to chic eating levels. Beans, healthy and accessible, are full of protein and are the most divine comfort 'gourmet' food known to mankind IF prepared the right way. Beans cross cultures and cuisines and with 400 types of beans, we all have our favorites!
